• keeley marshall commented on A thank you is very much appreciated!!!!: Dear staff of Oakfield - I too totally agree with the comments and thoughts expressed in this letter. While other schools have closed Oakfield has remained open and I appreciate that this is only because of the dedication and commitment of the staff. We would have had real child care problems this week if the school had closed but not only that our son would have missed his lessons, his teachers and his friends. Any chance you could possibly look at an answering service (BT can do one) that you can change the outgoing message to incorporate such possible closures as the telephone line was very busy (your poor staff!) this morning with people enquiring about this. This can be done/accessed from home at any time and could possibly relieve some parents of the 'is it/isn't it?' scenario. I look forward to digging my car out again tomorrow! • Julie Schneider (nee Brown) commented on Did You Go To Oakfield Junior School?: I was a pupil at Oakfield Infants and Juniors from 1978 to 1985 - writing that down makes me feel really old! I remember Mrs Davidson, Mr Downey and a great teacher in the second year but memory fails me for her name.... I moved to London in 1994 seeking fame and fortune and ended up marrying a Londoner and having two children now aged 6 and 3 - baby number 3 is due imminently and we're actually returning to the North East this year - there is a good chance that my children will go to this school too which will be very surreal for me but I can't wait! Time for them to talk like northerners (and not Londoners!) I have great memories of Oakfield and look forward to visiting the school again very soon. Julie

It seem's that some people are either far too lazy to walk from the designated car parking area's or feel they are too 'high and mighty' to believe that all the requests not to park are for them aswell as everyone else! Tonight an emergency ambulance could not get down the hill and was delayed, stood still, for a few minutes as a bus was at the bus stop outside the infant school and there were car's parked all down the opposite side of the road. I wonder what some of those people sitting in those cars obseving the struggling paramedics would feel if they arrived home to find that the ambulance they had delayed by their inconsiderate parking had been on it's way to one of their loved ones! • ANON commented on Year 5 are making faces !: Am I the only parent who is becoming very ticked off by the constant requests by Oakfield Junior School for 'sponsorship', 'contributions', 'tuition fees' and 'donations' etc? The requests for finance (for whatever reason), from the school, are now so frequent they have become burdensome. This is especially relevant with more than one child attending Oakfield. Whilst I feel strongly enough to write this e-mail, this issue is discussed informally by parents (with equal concerns) when picking up and dropping off their children. I feel this issue should now be investigated and addressed by the Head Teacher and look forward to a response.
