Yr3 Invaders and Settlers day
The year 3 children and teachers have had a great time this afternoon dressing up - the costumes were wonderful! Thank you to all parents who made their child look really good for today's activities. The children have been tasting some of the Roman foods that we learned about on our trip to Bede's world. Despite the teachers best efforts to try to wind the children up by offering them stuffed doormice and snails they all seemed rather too keen! Surprisingly, most of the children really enjoyed the roman dishes! We ate roman style pizzas which consisted of pitta bread, onion, olives and feta cheese. We also tried a dish called 'Monk's Mush', this is what the monks survived on in Bede's time. The children enjoyed dipping their crusty bread into this! The favourite was definately the juice - grape juice with water, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg! I hope the children all enjoyed learning about these dishes and had a super day in their costumes!
