The Year 5/6 girls’ team got off to a winning start in the Durham FA knockout competition. Round 1 was held at Colegate where we played the hosts and Simonside School. First up was a game against Simonside, a game we dominated in possession but chances were even at both ends. It was always going to be decided by one goal, and it was a peach of a goal. Kate went on a mazy dribble, beating 1, then 2, then 3 opponents, before coolly slotting the ball home. With some strong defending the girls held out for a 1-0 win.
Next up was Colegate, and by now we were in full flow. Lauren and Brooke helped themselves to two goals each with Sophie chipping in with a debut goal. 100% record in round 1. Round 2 awaits……soon!!
